Saving Jessica bring it to Catwalk

Saving Jessica had their largest performance to date at the Catwalk on Tuesday night and nailed it. This event, organised by the band and sponsored by the Childhood Cancer Foundation, was held to try raise funds for children living with cancer.

SJ was the main attraction and pulled in a substantial number of people to support this cause. An auction was held on various luxury items with the proceeds going to Choc, the foundation also has a house (CHOC House) where children that are living with cancer can stay, who would otherwise be hospitalised for extended period of time.

South Africans do believe in giving because some of the item on auction went for more than their retail value.

In the name of good causes, the band sold an undisclosed amount in CHOC pamphlets in an attempt to create the longest chain in history using the pamphlets.

The band was formed in June 2007 to try and save a 16-month-old girl called Jessica, hence then name SAVING JESSICA. Jessica is suffering from Neuroblastoma, a rare form of children’s cancer that affects various parts of the body, such as the stomach, the neck or the spinal cord.

The  month old band is really starting to make a name for itself in the cut-throat music industry, and show no signs of slowing down. Made up of six unique members, who all have different music background, they are not your typical garage rock band. In fact it’s hard to tell what genre of music they fall into as the music contains elements of rock, hip-hop and have a classical feel to it. Perhaps a new genre should be created just for them, my suggestions: Rockdy Hop or Hippidy Rock. Got better ideas or suggestions for new genre for this dynamic group and be part of something new.
